It’s that time of year again, the Feeding Our Families food drive returns to the tri-state on Saturday, April 13th.
Fulfill will join forces with NBC 4 New York, Telemundo 47, and Stop & Shop for a massive, tri-state wide food and funds drive. Over 1,000 volunteers will collect non-perishable items and financial donations at more than 250 Stop & Shop locations in New York, New Jersey, and Connecticut. The main goal of this tri-state food drive is to replenish non-perishable supplies and sustain essential anti-hunger efforts in the community.
One of the largest, single-day, multi-state food drives in the Northeast, Feeding our Families has generated more than two million meals for families in the first two years of the drive. The food drive comes at just the right time, as food banks like Fulfill face their greatest need between the months of January and August.
“As we head into the summer months, our food donations tend to diminish based on vacations and schools being out, so just when the need is greatest for the children we serve, it’s a time when we get fewer donations. We’re grateful that this tri-state food drive provides much-needed replenishment to our food pantries and raises awareness that hunger doesn’t take a vacation,” said Barbara Scholz, Fulfill’s Director of Advocacy and Programs.
NBC 4 New York and Telemundo 47 will deliver live reports and broadcast cut-ins from local Stop & Shop locations on Saturday, April 13. Anchors, reporters, and employees from both stations will also visit Stop & Shop stores that day to support on-site collection efforts, so be sure to tune in and listen live to see if your store is highlighted!
To participate in the food drive, just shop at a Stop & Shop location in Monmouth & Ocean Counties on Saturday, April 13th between 9AM and 6 PM.
Here are the participating stores in the Monmouth & Ocean Counties: Neptune, Long Branch, Freehold, Howell, Middletown, Keyport, Aberdeen, Whiting, Toms River (Lakewood Rd), Toms River (Rt 37), Jackson, Brick, Pt. Pleasant, and Pt. Pleasant Beach.
