Grant Support helps SNAP Recipients in Monmouth & Ocean Counties

For several years, Fulfill has received support from the Food Research & Action Center (FRAC) and the Walmart Foundation for SNAP Outreach. Their generous grants have supported both our Resource Connections Team, who conduct community outreach and help families apply for SNAP, and our advocacy efforts to improve SNAP policies.

The Supplemental Food Assistance Program (SNAP) aims to reduce hunger and poverty by providing financial benefits to families that are used for food each month. It is the largest and most effective hunger safety net program in the nation and last year, with Fulfill’s assistance, 5.6 million dollars in benefits were returned to our neighbors. “Last year we assisted with close to 1,700 SNAP applications and we are getting more referrals from our agencies because of this funding,” said Barbara Scholz, Fulfill’s Advocacy and Programs Director.

FRAC and Walmart Foundation have also provided grants to support Fulfill’s SNAP advocacy efforts. With their help, our leadership team has been able to meet with administrators on the local, state and federal levels to discuss why SNAP is so important in the fight against hunger. FRAC’s mission of alleviating poverty related-hunger aligns with Fulfill’s objectives, as well as the purpose of SNAP. Thanks to the generosity of FRAC and the Walmart Foundation, we can continue to help our neighbors in need by supporting SNAP outreach and advocacy in our communities.
