USDA Recognizes Summer Food Service Program

Summer Meals award

The U.S. Department of Agriculture presented a certificate of appreciation to the FoodBank of Monmouth and Ocean Counties in recognition of its outstanding Summer Food Service Program. Cherrie M. Walker, coordinator of the Summer Food Service Program for the New Jersey Department of Agriculture, presented the award.

Summer can often be a Season of Hunger for children from low-income families because they lose access to free or low-cost nutritious meals served at school. The FoodBank’s Summer Food Service Program serves healthy meals to more than 600 children throughout the summer months.
