The FoodBank of Monmouth & Ocean Counties held a Volunteer Valentine Appreciation Lunch on February 12th, 2015 at Doolan’s Shore Club in Spring Lake, NJ. A good time was had by all, with entertainment from Mr. D and Friends. We celebrated Valentine’s Day because our volunteers are the heart of the FoodBank and this year they logged in more than 19,000 hours, which is a 16% increase from last year.
Our volunteers represent organizations, friends and individuals who dedicate their free time to help us sort food drive donations, work special events, help out with mailings and clerical tasks, tend to our garden, support our mobile pantry and outreach programs and so much more. We also have volunteers who get trained in helping low and moderate income people file their taxes – last year 918 returns were processed, putting more than a million dollars back in the pockets of people in our communities.
