Wegmans Food Markets, Ocean Township, partnered with The FoodBank of Monmouth & Ocean Counties on Saturday, November 15th and 16th to encourage its customers to help feed the need this Thanksgiving. “Fill the Truck for Thanksgiving” was an effort made by Wegmans Food Markets to provide families with the items most needed for a Thanksgiving dinner.
Registers were set up outside of Wegmans so customers could purchase stuffing mix, muffin mix, gravy, yams, green beans, corn, cranberry sauce and fruit cocktail displayed on pallets.
As a result of the “Fill the Truck for Thanksgiving” weekend event, $6,197.88 worth of product was purchased by Wegman customers and employees for donation to the FoodBank and the 300 feeding programs in its network. Check Out Hunger collections totaled $2,992.17 making a grand total of $9,190.05. Wegmans will make an extremely generous match of $10,000! Certainly, this is another amazing example of community partnerships making a difference for those in need. Wegmans, their employees, and the community-at-large is to be commended for the tremendous success of this effort.
